Constantinople- A City Subjugated By Islam

Constantinople was a great Christian city that was part of the Byzantine Empire that stood for over 1000 years. It fell to the Muslim armies in 1453. The great Christian Cathedral, Hagia Sophia, was converted into a mosque. This was not a peaceful or willing transformation. The city was taken by force and many of the citizens were killed, tortured, enslaved in harems, and others were forced to convert to Islam. A great read on this subject is The Cry From Constantinople. This book can be ordered through Amazon, iPhones, and Barnes And Noble (Nook).

This is a picture of the great Christian cathedral that was converted into a mosque. The terrible suffering of the Christians who defended their beloved city is recorded in this book.

Today we should be praying for Christians all over the world who are being persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. Our faithfulness to Christ should take us where ever He leads and no matter the cost.

Am I a soldier of the cross,
A follower of the Lamb,
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His name?

Must I be carried to the skies,
On flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize,
And sailed through bloody seas?

Are there no foes for me to  face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?

Sure I must fight, If I would reign;
Increase my courage, Lord,
I'll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word.

May we all pray for the spread of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

That is a good book. I've only read the first chapter (the freely available part), but I'm going to buy it and read the whole thing (I need to make time for these things). It really is a convicting book
