Let's Not Forget The Great Hymns Of The Faith!

"...admonishing one another in psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, singing
with grace in your hearts
to the Lord."
 Col. 3:16

I am passionate about singing and keeping the great hymns of the faith in the body of Christ. There is a tremendous legacy of biblical knowledge that we are in danger of losing if we allow these hymns slip from our use. One reason I love these hymns is that they are full of great theology, poetry, with rich spiritual metaphors and blessings.

Let me suggest that as you meet with your families for private worship that you utilize our hymn book and sing together as a family some of these great hymns. Your children will be blessed and they will never forget the hymns that they learn in your family worship. This will also enhance our singing at the Lord's house on Sundays. Let us sing joyfully and heartily for the glory of our great God and King! He is worthy to be praised.

It is difficult to be discouraged or defeated when our hearts are overflowing with the joy of the Lord. God bless our Berean family!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Dickie

The Word of God For Graduates!

This Sunday I will be sharing a great text on the Word of God for our graduates. I trust that this message will be a blessing to them as they prepare for the future. Congratulations Cale Purdy! Cale is graduating from Swartz Creek, High School. Congratulations to Grace Rancour who is graduating from Berean Destiny Academy. And finally, congratulations to Dante Carter who is graduating from Kearsley High School. My prayers are with you all. I also commend you to the Word of God. The Bible is a great book and will change your life if you delight in its treasures!

The Bible

The Bible reveals the mind of God, the need of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read the Bible to be wise, believe the Bible to be safe, and practice the Bible to be holy. The Bible contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

The Bible is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter. In the Bible Paradise is restored, Heaven is opened, and the gates of hell are closed. Christ is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end.

The Bible should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read the Bible slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

The Bible is given you in life, will be opened in judgment, and remembered forever. The Bible involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. My dear friend, treasure the Word of the living God.

I trust our Berean family will have a great weekend!

See you Sunday,
Pastor
